
The Florida Department of Health recently unveiled a Faces of HIV mobile art exhibit. It tells the stories of Florida residents living with HIV and AIDS through captivating portraits, insightful interviews and poignant journal writing.
The exhibit will be open to the public and in the Orlando area February 3rd-4th.

The Faces of HIV project tells the stories of Florida residents living with HIV and AIDS through captivating portraits, insightful interviews and poignant journal writing. Participants of the project address how they became infected with HIV and first dealt with their diagnoses, as well as their personal relationships, effects of HIV on the body and more. The mobile art exhibit gives visitors an up close and personal glimpse into the lives of those living with HIV in hopes of promoting awareness and understanding about the disease. HOPE announces...
the "BIGGEST FOOD DRIVE EVER!"
in partnership with Oviedo Mall
HOPE serves over 300 families per week at our Food Pantry located in Oviedo, providing food and resources for individuals and families in need throughout southern Seminole County. We are blessed with donations from the community, and are looking to sustain our families, well beyond the holiday season. HOPE volunteers will be located in the Oviedo Mall (old Kirkland space near Sears) for the month of January (3rd through the 29th) collecting, counting and weighing, non-perishable food items for our Biggest Food Drive Ever! (See specific drop off dates/times in flyer below) The counting/weighing is being coordinated by a local Senior from Oviedo High School as part of her Senior project!
Do you think your business, school, scout troop, church or civic group could donate the most items? All items will be counted/weighed, and the winner of the largest donation will be announced at Oviedo Mall, along with HOPE staff and leaders from our community, January 31st at 7:00 p.m.

Orlando Firefighters Annual Chili Cook Off!
Saturday, February 4 – 1100-1400 – Downtown Wall Street Plaza
OFD Firefighters and their families will continue to enjoy the
Chili Cook Off FREE OF CHARGE.
But we have some exciting additions to this year’s event…
Non-OFD attendees will pay $5 for a wristband that allows chili samples and one ticket to vote for their favorite chili. Children 12 and under are free.
Chili Entries must be registered by return email by January 27 to reserve your spot in the competition. Registration must include the name of your chili, the name of your cook(s) and who you represent (Pipes and Drums, Station 12-B, etc). In addition to the People’s Choice Award for favorite chili, celebrity judges will select their top three.
Additionally, this year OFD will be hosting our first ever CORN HOLE TOURNAMENT. Troy Deppen, OFD’s Corn Hole King, has offered to oversee the Corn Hole operations. More details on the tournament will follow, but cash prizes will be awarded to First, Second and Third Place Overall and a special prize to the first place Firefighter Team.
This has always been a great event for OFD firefighters and their families…come join us as we celebrate what has become another Orlando Fire Department tradition!

Join the American Lung Association on February 4, 2012 for the eighth annual Cars for the Cure event, presented by The Orlando Premier Collection. Some of the most powerful and highly-tuned cars from the United States and around the world will be on display. The show will feature International and American customs, European exotics, high power racers, custom bikes, muscle cars, and more! Be a part of the largest charitable car show extravaganza in the Southeastern United States at Colonial Townpark in Lake Mary, from 10:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M.

Bark for Beers!
It's our 2nd Annual Barks for Beers event on Feb. 19th from 2pm -6pm at Orlando Brewing on 1301 Atlanta Ave in Orlando. Our theme is Mardi Paws! We will be taking picture of dogs and their humans in Mardi Gras themed costumes. We'll have beads and masks and more! As you may or may not be aware, Orlando Brewing makes (and sells) there own homemade microbrewed beer. They are offering special pricing on the beer for a $5 donation to organization so that they will get a wristband. We are having a trivia contest for prizes and 50:50 raffle. We are also having an artist who will draw caricatures. The Gastro Truck of Orlando will be there serving human food and the Sit and Stay Pet Cafe to provide tasty morsels for our 4-legged friends.

Join the National MS Society, Mid Florida Chapter for their annual Walk MS at Lake Eola Park on the corner of N. Eola Dr. and Robinson Ave. 1 mi and 2.34 mi walks, fully accessible and fun for the entire family. Register to walk as an individual, join a team or create a team. Registration is 8 a.m. and the walk kicks off at 9 a.m.
