WON AND DONE! KENTUCKY BEATS KANSAS FOR THE NCAA TITLE!
The Kentucky Wildcats are the champs of college hoops for the eighth time after dominating the Kansas Jayhawks 67-59 last night. Wildcats star Anthony Davis had only six points, with all but two made at the free throw line. Nonetheless, Davis provided some tenacious defense, with six blocked shots and three steals. He also grabbed 16 rebounds and set up his teammates with five assists. Davis was chosen as the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four. The championship triumph will likely serve as his swan song for the Wildcats, as the 19-year-old freshman is expected enter the NBA draft, where he'll likely be the number-one pick. While Davis enjoyed chants of "MVP! MVP!" during the final seconds of the game, The Fray, who sang "The Star-Spangled Banner," weren't as lucky. Their stripped-down acoustic take only received a polite applause and was being attacked on the Twitter-sphere last night.
TRAYVON MARTIN: SHOCKINGLY PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO CASH IN ON THE TRAGEDY
T-shirts with slogans commemorating shooting victim are becoming big business for some, leading the family of the slain unarmed teen to seek trademarks for the phrase "I am Trayvon" and "Justice for Trayvon." The Martin family attorney Kimra Major-Morris says they're not trying to profit from the tragedy, only to protect the trademark from others who might be trying to cash in on Martin's death. The shooting has stirred protests around the country calling for the arrest of the admitted shooter, Neighborhood Watch captain George Zimmerman. Shirts with Zimmerman's likeness have also surfaced on eBay with one such garment reading, "STAND YOUR GROUND in the PENITENTIARY." Meanwhile, The FBI confirmed yesterday that it is conducting a “parallel investigation” of the Trayvon Martin shooting that focuses on whether the teen’s civil rights were violated. Agents began questioning potential witnesses yesterday. They are seeking information on George Zimmerman’s background and whether his pursuit of Martin was racially motivated. The state of Florida has been conducting their own investigation into the February 26th incident, in which 17-year-old Martin was shot dead by 28-year-old neighborhood watchman Zimmerman. Zimmerman claims he shot Martin in self-defense, but that remains to be seen. New video footage did emerge yesterday which showed Zimmerman with an apparent injury to the back of the head, the possible result of a scuffle with Martin.

THE JETBLUE PILOT WHO LOST HIS MARBLES GOT RELEASED AND THEN DETAINED YESTERDAY…
The JetBlue captain who had a meltdown during a Las Vegas-bound flight last week was released from the hospital yesterday and taken into federal custody. A judge ruled that Clayton Osbon, 49, should be held without bond. Osbon faces federal charges of interfering with his own flight crew and will remain in jail until a detention hearing on Thursday. Flight 191, from New York to Las Vegas, was forced to land in Amarillo, Texas last Tuesday after Osbon began acting erratically. His co-pilot had to lock him out of the cockpit, and other passengers had to restrain him as he screamed about religion and terrorists. It is still not known what triggered Osbon’s behavior.

In a perfect storm of history and technology, the newly released 1940 U.S. census brought a government website to a standstill yesterday. In a mere four hours, the U.S. National Archives website racked up more than 22 million hits yesterday from nearly 2 million visitors. In a tweet posted just after 5 p.m., the archives claimed that it had a total of 37 million hits since the census hit the web at 9 a.m. Susan Cooper, a spokeswoman for the archives, called the problem a "virtual traffic jam," adding, "The problem is, we just weren't expecting the huge volume that we got." The site was still experiencing problems last night at around 11 p.m. ET. The government was allowed to release the information -- 72 years later -- because the confidentially has expired.

Thanks to Google Maps, Foursquare and Facebook, it’s never been easier to stalk someone. Girls Around Me, a new mobile app that lets users view the profiles and locations of people nearby, is currently at the center of an internet privacy debate. Users simply log into Girls Around Me through their Foursquare account. The app figures out where you are with geo-location software, then finds other people (men or women- you choose) in the vicinity with public Facebook profiles who have checked in with Foursquare. From there, you can browse strangers’ information and photos- or go straight to the bar or restaurant they’re currently sitting in and say hello (if you’re a total creep). Sounds shady, right? Though it’s been around for a few months, Girls Around Me has recently drawn major criticism; Foursquare stated that it’s in violation of their terms, and Facebook launched an investigation of the app.

Pastor Mike Scruggs set up a stripper pole and a bed next to his pulpit at Light of the Word Ministries as part of his new sermon series entitled “Battle of the Sexes.” On one side, the stripper pole was accompanied by dollar bills, lingerie and high heels to represent what men like, and on the other side was the bed with candy, roses and teddy bears to depict female desires. The first service on Friday was unsurprisingly packed. Scruggs preached that married couples need to enjoy more sex and challenged them to have intercourse for seven days straight. Something tells us this is a commandment people will be willing to obey!

While being escorted out, an angry Ernest Vannier allegedly bit off a male bartender’s pinky! The bartender had his finger reattached at the hospital and Vannier was charged with second-degree assault. Sounds like he bit off more than he could chew!

To counter, Couric's old home, the Today show on NBC, is calling in Sarah Palin to fill her old chair this morning. NBC promises that Palin's appearance will "reveal a different side of her." Couric and Palin famously went at it in a 2008 interview when she was serving as John McCann's running mate. The interview was widely regarded as a train wreck for Palin.

The Chicago Bulls on Monday dropped their second consecutive game, losing at home to the Houston Rockets 99-93. This was the first time all season the Windy City ballers dropped back-to-back games all season. Despite the loss, the Bulls still own the best record in the NBA because the Oklahoma City Thunder fell to the Memphis Grizzlies 94-88 to remain one game behind Chicago for the league’s best record. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday said he won’t stand in the way of Bill Parcells standing in for Sean Payton as the interim head coach of the New Orleans Saints if all parties agree to pull the trigger on a deal. Goodell said, “That’s their decision. They need to make those decisions and we’ll move forward. Bill’s a great coach… And he’s as competitive as they get so I’m sure he’ll do a good job.” Goodell is currently mulling Payton’s appeal of his one-year suspension over the bounty case.

Former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf was arrested again on Monday and charged with burglary, theft and two counts of criminal possession of drugs shortly after posting bail and getting out of jail following an arrest on Friday. Central Montana Drug Force Commander Chris Hickman told reporters that Leaf, a former second-overall NFL draft pick in 1998, was arrested early Monday in Great Falls for a burglary he allegedly committed on Saturday, just hours after he was busted on Friday and charged with committing another burglary and illegal possession of pain killers. Leaf will be behind bars for a few days and he will not be allowed to post bond.

The Cincinnati Reds and first baseman Joey Votto on Monday agreed to stay married to each other for 10 more years after both sides agreed to a new $225 million, 10-year contract extension. Votto will fill his vault with $26.5 million for this upcoming season alone. The $200 million-plus pact is the third such sum signed by a NL Central first baseman in recent months: former St. Louis Cardinal Albert Pujols and ex-Milwaukee Brewer Prince Fielder both inked new deals with new clubs worth well north of $200 million.

Things escalated when Dan allegedly led the crowd at the show's wrap party in an "F--- You Chevy" chant in front of the actor's wife and daughter. If I were writing a book about it, I could call the book 101 Mistakes." OWN has struggled ever since it launched last year. Kris Humphries is not ready to give in to his estranged wife Kim Kardashian. Deftones frontman Chino Moreno says the band is done with the pre-production for its next album and will start recording on July 9th.
